I had suffered with poor knees, after years of running. Come to find out, my knees were rubbing bone on bone and I eventually succumbed to micro fracture knee surgery in both knees in June, 2008. Post surgery and many months of physical therapy, someone recommended Pilates to help with the strengthening the muscles around my knees and in my legs. Early 2009 I had my first taste of Pilates. With one-on-one personal sessions, I was able to see improvement in my strength and flexibility. Although I had improved, I was still struggling with some basics things like going up and down stairs. It was not until late summer, 2010, however, that I found Kelly. Kelly really focused on my legs and seemed to have personal interest in understanding the way my body would move throughout the exercises. She taught me how to listen to my body and watch my movements in order to feel when my legs were doing the Pilates moves correctly. During each session she worked with me in such great detail that I began seeing major improvements in my mobility in just everyday life. I can now run short distances, go up and down stairs, and even began taking kickboxing classes! I believe without Kelly and Pilates, my strength and flexibility to do even simple everyday movements would not be where they are today. I am truly thankful that I made the decision to try Pilates and more thankful that I found Kelly!
